Apple Crisp with Golden Raisins and Whipped Cream

The aroma of warm cinnamon apples will fill your home as this delicious apple crisp bakes in your oven. This recipe comes from our friend’s, Hands-on Cooking Class With Chef Jenn – Creating Memories and Telling Stories Through Food.




  • ½ cup  Sugar
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp  Salt
  • ½ cup Dark brown sugar,  firmly packed
  • ½ cup Old-fashioned oats
  • 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) Unsalted butter, room temperature- cut into small cubes


  • 2 ½ lb Pink lady and Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, sliced (about 4 to 6 apples)
  • ½ cup Golden raisins
  • ½ cup Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp Corn starch
  • ¾ tsp Ground cinnamon

Whipped Cream:

  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • ½ tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp Granulated sugar




  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Serves 6 to 8

For Topping:

  1. Whisk together sugar, all-purpose flour, and salt in large bowl. Stir in brown sugar and oats. Add unsalted butter and rub into mixture until coarse crumbs form.

For Filling:

  1. Combine sliced apples, raisins, sugar, fresh lemon juice, corn starch and ground cinnamon in large bowl. Mix well to blend. Transfer apple-raisin filling to a 2 quart baking dish (or an 8 inch square baking dish).
  2. Spread topping over. Bake until topping is golden brown, about 55 minutes. Serve crisp warm with whipped cream.

Whipped Cream:

  1. Put cream, vanilla, and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the whisk attachment and beat until soft peaks begin to form. Cover and refrigerate until serving.
